Shaping the Future of Arizona’s Workforce Together

This Thanksgiving, we’re especially grateful for our partners who are working together to build the future of Arizona’s workforce. Together, we are laying the foundation for opportunities that will change lives and strengthen our state for generations to come.

Arizona’s push to build the workforce needed for booming artificial intelligence infrastructure, semiconductor and advanced manufacturing industries is accelerating. TechSmart is already recognized as a key leader in these efforts. In a recent article, the Arizona Republic reported, “these aren’t just the jobs of the future anymore… they are the jobs of today,” underscoring the urgent need for the high-impact workforce training and partnerships TechSmart is driving. The article highlights TechSmart’s unique role in uniting government, industry and education, noting our belief that “together, we can win more.  And together, we can change the lives of those furthest from opportunities with careers in technologies that are leading the world.” Read the full article here.

This recognition comes at a pivotal moment, as the state mobilizes partners and funding to meet the surging demand for skilled workers. Education Forward Arizona’s (EFA) latest report describes this need and how the state’s education institutions have responded quickly with targeted programs such as short-term credentials and certificates. For example, GateWay Community College’s Future48 Workforce Accelerator connects students with the skills they need to succeed in the semiconductor industry. Short-term and non-degree credentials play an important role in increasing access to good jobs in advanced manufacturing and meeting demand for workers.

Increasing access to the tech sector, especially for underrepresented groups, is one of our key goals at TechSmart. For those interested in the impact of women across the semiconductor and technology industries, we recommend SEMI Foundation’s Women in Semiconductors event on December 11, which will include panels on programs that help underrepresented groups access STEM, as well as networking opportunities.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
